Initiating Your First Conversation
Now that you've created your allmates.ai account and explored the interface, it's time to start your first chat with a Mate! This guide will walk you through the process of selecting a Mate, sending your first message, and understanding how Mates respond.
Selecting a Mate
Choose a Mate:
Click on the current Mate icon located to the left of the "+ Personal Chat" button.
A list of available Mates will appear. Select the Mate you want to start a conversation with.
The last used Mate remains the default Mate for subsequent New Chats until the user selects another one.
Start a New Chat:
Click the "+ Personal chat" button to launch a new direct conversation with a Mate.
Retrieve your previous messages:
Click on the “clock” icon to retrieve all your previous personal messages.
Sending Your First Message
Compose Your Message:
In the input bar at the bottom of the screen, type your message.
Consider starting with a simple greeting or a clear question.
Example: "Hello, can you help me brainstorm some marketing ideas?"
Send Your Message:
Press Ctrl+ Enter for Windows (Cmd + Enter for Mac) or click the send button to send your message.
Understanding Mate Responses
Automatic Response:
In Chat mode, since a Mate is selected when creating the Chat, you can directly send a message without actively mentioning the Mate. The selected Mate will default to considering that the message is addressed to them.
Review the Response:
The Mate will process your message and generate a response.
Read the response carefully to understand the Mate's suggestions or answers.
Continue the Conversation:
You can continue the conversation by typing additional messages in the input bar.
Ask follow-up questions, provide more details, or request further assistance.
Tips for Effective Communication
Be Clear and Concise:
Clearly state your questions or requests to help the Mate understand your needs.
Provide Context:
Give the Mate enough background information to generate relevant responses.
Use Mentions:
If you want to involve other Mates in the conversation, use the @ symbol followed by their name.
Review Responses:
Take the time to read and understand the Mate's responses before continuing the conversation.
Example Conversation
You: "Hello, can you help me brainstorm some marketing ideas for a new product?"
Mate: "Hello! I'd be happy to help. To give you the best ideas, can you tell me more about the product and your target audience?"
You: "It's a new AI-powered writing assistant for small businesses. Our target audience is entrepreneurs and marketing teams."
Mate: "Great! Here are a few marketing ideas to get you started..."
Troubleshooting
No Response:
If the Mate doesn't respond, make sure you've selected a Mate and sent your message correctly.
Check your internet connection.
Irrelevant Responses:
If the Mate's responses are not relevant, try rephrasing your questions or providing more context.
