We're announcing a major update to the allmates.ai platform that simplifies how Mates are structured, making them both easier to use and much more flexible.
Effective December 17, 2025, we're saying goodbye to the four distinct Mate types (Native, Assistant, Web Search, Image-gen). From now on, all Mates will be the Native type.
Specialized capabilities like web search, document analysis, or image generation aren't going away; they are now provided by Tools that you can attach to any Mate.
Seamless migration for you: Your existing Mates will be automatically updated.
An Assistant will become a Native Mate + the Code Interpreter Tool.
A Web Search mate will become a Native Mate + the Web Search Tool.
An Image-gen mate will become a Native Mate + the Image Studio Tool.
No action is required on your part, and your Mates will retain all their functionalities.
Total Flexibility: Create "super-Mates" by combining multiple Tools. A single Mate can now, for example, search the web, analyze the data it finds, and then create an illustration for it.
Ease of Use: No more choosing a type upfront. Just create a Native Mate and add the skills you need.
Increased Power: Your AI collaborators are no longer limited to a single specialty. Their capabilities can evolve with your projects.
This update is designed to make allmates.ai more intuitive and to unlock new levels of collaboration. We're excited to see the powerful, multi-skilled Mates you'll build!
